Kick Ass Firefox Extension

February 16, 2006

I’ve been using the Firefox View in IE Extension for about a year or so now and I love it.  Like a lot of companies, Yahoo has a ton of web based applications that I rely on to do my day to day looking up orders, looking at contracts, accessing marketing materials, etc.  Unfortunately, a lot of these applications are a bit dated and don’t necessarily play well with Firefox.  Therefore, I have become extremly reliant on the View in IE Extension.  If I find a page that isn’t working, simply right click and a new IE window opens up.  It was great.
Last week, I got a new machine and in the process of adding all of my applications I, of course, thought that I loaded the View in IE extension.  What I got was the IE Tab extension.  Wow.  Maybe I’m a lame ass and everyone but me knows about this, but it is pretty kick ass.  What can I say, I am a sales guy.  It still has the same functionality as before, except now the window states ‘View Page in IE Tab’.  This is great because instead of opening a whole new IE window, it actually opens the IE window in a new tab within Firefox.  I love this because I can now keep multiple, IE reliant applications running in the same set of windows.  Me = Happy.

Even nicer then that, if you can imagine, is a nifty little button in the lower right hand corner of the Firefox window that allows you to simply switch the window from Firefox to IE and back again.

Love it.  You can get the extension here.

  • Yeah, it's good for two things, really:

    * using IE-only sites (assholes)
    * comparing browser differences in, say, CSS
