Jab - Jab - Uppercut - Knee - or What I Learned About Not Quitting
Holly & I took a Kwan Do kick boxing class this morning. We booked our summer trip to Hawaii earlier in the week and I really want to lose about 10 or 15 lbs. for the trip. After about 20 minutes, I felt like I was going to die. I've never wanted to just kick back and eat a burger and drink a scotch like I did this morning. I am sure that tomorrow, I won't be able to move.
At the end of the class, the entire group lined up in 3 lines and we did lunges and round house kicks back and forth across the gym for about 10 minutes. On the last run, I just couldn't do it. I just couldn't make it all the way across the gym so I quit half way. Only about 20 feet to go actually, but what I noticed was the really skinny people, the people in the best shape, were kicking and lunging all the way to the end. I bet they were tired, but they kept on doing what they were there to do and that was work out. There was no quit in them.
Next week, providing I can walk, I am going to be first in that line. That way, I can't quit. I'll need to go the entire distance. The only way to lose weight is to keep kicking all the way to the end.
